The Mitti Origin: A Father's Empathy, A CTO's Execution
The Origin of Mitti
The story of Mitti doesn’t begin in a corporate boardroom or a traditional R&D lab. It starts with a deeply personal challenge: a father’s search for a better solution for his son.
When faced with standard pediatric orthotics—rigid bracing that often locked the body into static positions—the limitations became glaringly obvious. The “passive” approach of strapping a child into a rigid frame prevents the crucial development of trunk control and neuroplasticity. The child becomes dependent on the brace, rather than learning to stabilize themselves.
The Empathy of a Father
As a father, witnessing the frustration of constrained movement was the catalyst. Children need to explore, wobble, and sometimes fall to learn balance. They need an approach that says, “I’m here if you need me,” not “I will hold you tight so you can never move.” This inspired the “1-Finger-Regel” (1-Finger Rule)—the idea that a child often just needs the gentle, guiding touch of a single finger at the hip to find their center of gravity, just like in Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) therapy.
The Execution of a CTO
But empathy alone doesn’t build medical devices. Translating this vision into reality required the rigorous, execution-focused mindset of an experienced CTO. Leveraging an AI-driven, mechatronics workflow, the Mitti platform was architected from the ground up to solve this biomechanical challenge.
We didn’t just build a motor; we built a sophisticated, reactive system. By combining high-frequency IMU sensor fusion, precision BLDC motors, and real-time fatigue monitoring algorithms, we created a dynamic anchor.
Our engineering pipeline—utilizing MuJoCo SITL simulations and rapid iterations—allowed us to safely test and validate our 1.5 Nm torque limit before ever approaching a physical prototype. This is where deep-tech meets deep care: applying the most advanced robotics methodologies to create a tool that is soft, safe, and profoundly human.
